Discovery Communications is loaded with tons of talented, bright minds (wink, wink) so it’s no surprise really that its founding father and chairman, John Hendricks, was recently elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Forest Foundation (NFF).
As if charging up the Discovery empire—the world’s number one non-fiction media company wasn’t impressive enough…Hendricks will now be head honcho at the national nonprofit dedicated to conserving, restoring, and enhancing American’s 193-million-acre National Forests and Grasslands System, chartered by the U.S. Congress.
Having already sat on the NFF board since 2007, and having already demonstrated his deep green roots with Discovery, inspiring and educating the masses to care about planet earth, the announcement doesn’t come so much as a huge surprise—as it does just a really great piece of news.
NFF agrees. President William Possiel is quoted saying,
Throughout his life and career, John Hendricks has demonstrated a deep concern for the natural world…We are honored to have him take over as chairman of our board, where he will lead our efforts as we take on the increasingly complex conservation and restoration challenges across our National Forest System.
