Giant Underwater Dome to Stop Oil River in Gulf of Mexico?
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that one of the techniques being considered for the cleanup of the BP oil spill in the gulf is to lower a dome over the leak to suck up the oil. President Barack Obama Statement on BP Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico
Here is a portion President Obama's statement on the oil spill.

"As I said yesterday, BP is ultimately responsible under the law for paying the costs of response and cleanup operations, but we are fully prepared to meet our responsibilities to any and all affected communities. And that's why we've been working closely with state and local authorities since the day of the explosion.

There are now five staging areas to protect sensitive shorelines; approximately 1,900 federal response personnel are in the area; and more than 300 response vessels and aircraft on the scene 24/7. We've also laid approximately 217,000 feet of protective boom, and there are more on the way."

"Author Tom Bower, who penned The Squeeze, Oil, Money and Greed in the 21st Century, told reporters Friday BP's drastic cost-cutting measures in the last few years has led to poor planning and the need for out-sourcing.

The result, Bower claims, has been BP's difficulty in monitoring subcontractors and engineering, which played a key role in the current problem in the Gulf."
