Beck and Ratigan Duel With Chalkboards Over Climate
"Crazy" Glenn Beck has made his chalkboard both must see TV event and a joke. He goes to it to lay out his bizarre conspiracy theories that have "proved" Obama to be a socialist and that there is a green conspiracy to drive the planet toward a one world government. Now he's gone back to his board to show how the mid Atlantic storms prove that climate change isn't real. Says Beck: "Apparently, the hotter it gets, the colder it becomes."Beck was responding to MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan after he said "these 'snowpocalypses' that have been going through D.C. and other extreme weather events are precisely what climate scientists have been predicting, fearing and anticipating because of global warming."
Ratigan, pulling out his own chalkboard to mock Beck, went on to say that "the theory basically states that the warmer climate will cause higher ocean temperatures, which means more ocean water evaporating. ... More water in the air results in more precipitation on earth."
"I do not belief this storm is proof of climate change. My point very simply was that strong winter storms ... do not by any stretch of the imagination rule out climate change."
Ratigan and Beck ought to check out a White House report issued last year shows that climate change is likely to lead to bigger snow storm in the mid-Atlantic region because warmer air holds more moisture.
Beck joins Sens. Jim DeMint and James Inhofe as people who will use any opportunity to push their fact-free agenda on global warming. Last week, DeMint wrote on his Twitter account: "It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries 'uncle'". Inhofe and his grandchildren built an igloo on the national mall and adorned it with a sign that reads "Al Gore's New Home".
