Andy Revkin on Buy Nothing Day

Andrew Revkin of the New York Times' blog Dot Earth discusses Kalle Lasn, the founder of the culture jammers at Adbusters, who invented Buy Nothing Day and kicked off #occupywallstreet from their lair in Vancouver, Canada. Andy covered Buy Nothing Day in 2007 and like me, has mixed feelings about it. He writes about both of these campaigns:

As readers here already know, I have nothing against protest, although I’m less a fan of sit-ins than do-ins. While I wrote about Buy Nothing Day in 2007, I followed up by proposing Make Something Day. (Personally, I’d rather see young people occupy Wall Street and related institutions from within.)
