Along with the Government Accountability Project, UCS released a new report combining a survey of climate scientists with dozens of in-depth interviews. The scientists who responded to the survey reported at least 435 instances of political interference in their work and new instances of political interference were revealed in the interview process.
UCS has documented political interference across several agencies and many issues areas. During her testimony, Dr. Grifo called on Congress to protect scientists throughout government from political interference by granting them whistleblower protection, the right of last review on how their research is presented, and open access to the press.
