Climate change and the burden of proof

Why should those of us in favor of addressing climate change - climate hawks, environmentalists, scientists, 80% of the public - be responsible for convincing others that the world needs saving?

Pragmatically speaking, it's no surprise advocates of massive, worldchanging action should be eager to want to explain their reasoning, but as David Mitchell points out in the above video, the burden of proof for addressing climate change should be on the deniers.

Do you agree? Why or why not?

In any case, if you do find yourself having to justify the case for fighting climate change, this video and this National Journal post are good places to start.
