We recently covered the story of Llyod Godson, who was planning to spend two weeks living in a sealed underwater vessel to investigate sustainable living. We're pleased to announce that after two safe, sub-aqua weeks he has now returned to the surface. He used a bike to generate electricity, and was able to grow algae to provide some of his food and oxygen.
It's not yet clear exactly how well the experiment went, or how much food and oxygen had to be added to what was produced. Godson said, "we were constantly making improvements to things that were going on down there and trying to optimise my living conditions." By tweaking the conditions, and adding extra fans, the oxygen output of the algae was increased, which could lead to a longer experiment in the future, or one with more inhabitants. :: ABC News
