521 Design Furniture

hive by ferebee.jpg
Using aluminum, bent-ply, and walnut veneer, Chris Ferebee of 521 Design created the Hive, seen here, an Eamesian tribute to storage and shelving. (Though it isn't totally "market-ready" yet, the designer is offering a few prototypes for sale.) Other pieces use materials such as industrial pallets made from 100% recycled wood paste and re-purposed polycarbonate. Though we might spank Ferebee if we met him for using PVC and MDF from time to time, we still applaud him for his innovative use of simple industrial, recycled and low-waste materials, as well as his unfancified yet jazzy designs. Thanks for the tip, Design Sponge! ::521 Design [by MO]
