Laptop Magazine has tested some of the industry's greenest notebooks and decided on the most eco-friendly in each of 4 categories, from netbooks to desktop replacements. Check out their choices. For testing, Laptop Magazine asked notebook manufacturers to submit their greenest product. They narrowed it down to 16 to test. From there, they ran the products through the rigors of their standard testing process, which includes battery charge time and power, battery life, surf test, PCMark Vantage/PCMark05, movie playing, idle, the EPEAT rating and the Greenpeace rating. And the winners are:
Netbook: Sony VAIO P
Ultra-Portable: Toshiba Portege R600
All-Purpose Notebook: Lenovo ThinkPad T400
Desktop Replacement: Toshiba Satellite A355
Laptop Magazine has some great graphics and details on how the various computers ranked and the results of testing. If you're looking to buy, you can also check out Planet Green's notebook buy guide and desktop buy guide. And don't forget EPEAT as a resource for green input as well.
