Christine Lepisto is a chemist, consultant, and writer living in Berlin, Germany. An expert in chemical safety, she worked as a staff writer at Treehugger for 14 years, covering topics such as chemical regulation, biomimicry, product design, sustainable agriculture, transportation, and health.
Before coming to Treehugger, Lepisto spent 20 years working in various industries – developing new materials recovery processes, implementing waste reduction projects, and improving global chemical stewardship, among others – which led to the creation of her business, Chemical Safety Consulting, in 2008.
Lepisto is a certified dangerous goods safety advisor, a specialist in global regulations, an experienced public speaker and trainer, and an accredited journalist with the German International Press Association. She and her husband divide their time between Berlin and an organic olive farm in Umbria, Italy.
Lepisto has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and mathematics from St. Olaf College, Minnesota. She completed one year of post-graduate studies in biochemistry at University of Minnesota.
