The late Chris Baskind was an ardent cyclist and car-free advocate who was dedicated to environmental issues and educating others about how to live more simply.
In 2007, Baskind founded Lighter Footstep, an early online voice for healthy, low-impact living. He said when he launched the site his goals were clear: “A healthier family. A cleaner planet. Making the most of your weekly budget.” Lighter Footstep became part of MNN (now part of Treehugger) in 2010. Baskind’s writing focused on helping people make informed choices for a greener lifestyle.
Our mission at Treehugger is to provide advice, clarity, and inspiration for both the eco-savvy and the green living novice. We hope our content gives you the confidence to purchase a better dishwasher, build a green beauty routine, or simply learn more about the world around you.
Treehugger is part of the Dotdash family.
