She is also an avid collector of self-help books and medical journals. She reviews articles for factual accuracy and consistency.
Cherisse earned a Fulbright Scholarship during her sophomore year of college, which allowed her to travel to the Netherlands, Paris, and Spain to further develop her writing skills. She has fact-checked for multiple publications, including Refinery29, InStyle, and The New York Times. When she's not writing, she is a mom, an elementary education teacher, and an online English language teacher.
Cherisse received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University and two master's degrees: one in English-Writing and one in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport.
