Canadians are used to paying more than Americans for a lot of things, even now that the Loonie has been hovering near 1:1 with the U.S. dollar for years. But exceptions confirm the rule: GM recently cut the price of the 2014 Chevy Volt by $5k in the US, and GM Canada is now announcing that it will follow suit, cutting the price of the Canadian version of the 2014 Volt by $5000 too.
Well, it's not entirely fair since in the U.S. the new MSRP for the Volt will be $34,995 + $810 destination fee and in Canada it'll be CDN$36,895 + $1,600 destination fee, but close enough...
The 2014 version of the Volt should be available later this summer or in the beginning of the fall. If you live in Ontario, Quebec, or British Columbia, make sure to look up government incentives for plug-in vehicles. They can be pretty juicy.
