What makes a bike share system great? (video)

It's one of those ideas whose time has come, as Victor Hugo would say. Bike-sharing works, and when well implemented, it can be transformational for a city. Many are already seeing the benefits, which explains why it's growing so fast (bike-sharing in the U.S. expected to reach 37,000 bikes in 2014 (4x more than in 2012!)).

Our friend Clarence over at Streetfilms created this fantastic video which both provides an overview of bike shares around the U.S. and the world, and highlights some of the things that have been identified by the Institute for Transportation & Development Policy (ITDP) report that compiles best practices so that new bike shares can start on the right foot, which Lloyd covered in depth yesterday.

Check out the video:

For an in-depth dive into the topic, check out Lloyd's post, and then get the Bike Share Planning Guide and send it to your local city officials and urban planners!
