The U.S. really doesn't have to reinvent the wheel to make its transportation system greener. All that's needed is to learn from those who are already doing it right, such as the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Julie A. Ruterbories, the U.S. Consul General in Amsterdam, had an outsider's perspective on the bike culture and infrastructure and she shares her experience with us in the short video profile above by our friends at Streetfilms. It's so true what she says about how you only really know an area if you've walked and biked around it, and how - if there's a good enough bike infrastructure - cycling can be the most convenient way to get around.
