Lightlane Is Going from Gleam To Reality


I loved the idea of Lightlane when I wrote You Shall Have Bike Lanes Wherever You Go, but thought of it more as a conceptual project rather than a real product. No more; the response was so terrific that they are putting it into production.

They built a working prototype; you can see the green bike lane in the video above.

A proof-of-concept prototype was built to determine the technical feasibility of the idea. Preliminary contextual research shows its performance in real world situations is best when lighting conditions are at their worst, improving safety in the most critical situations.


It has fricking High Visibility Diode-Pumped Solid State Green Lasers, Super-Bright Red LED’s and runs three hours on a charge. More at Lightlane via PSFK.
