To update this old apartment in Paris, Batiik Studio gutted the interior and added a sleek-looking 'bedroom box' that is not only a private sleeping alcove, but also incorporates storage in every bit of available space, including the stairs. Part of the box can be closed off with sliding partitions. © Bertrand Fompeyrine There's a lot of storage here. Going inside the bedroom box via the stairs, one can see there's even a small integrated shelf here. © Bertrand Fompeyrine © Bertrand Fompeyrine The new design is a far cry from the previous state of the apartment, which included a head-banging loft for sleeping in. © Bertrand Fompeyrine However, the walls were purposely kept unfinished after the renovation -- offering a bit of a visual contrast to the clean lines of the new installations. The minimalist and matching kitchen is located right beside the bedroom box. © Bertrand Fompeyrine Behind the sleeping box is the bathroom, equipped with a shower and small sink. © Bertrand Fompeyrine Living in a small living space may seem like a deprivation, but in fact, it can be a creative design opportunity. As we've seen with so many well-designed tiny spaces, it's possible to maximize any cramped space with some grand ideas. To see more, visit Batiik Studio. [Via: Contemporist]
