David de Rothschild on Crossing the Pacific in the Plastiki (Podcast)



To shed light on the plight of our plastic-laden oceans, David de Rothschild built a sailboat from 12,000 soda bottles and took it clear across the Pacific. With TreeHugger-founder Graham Hill as a crew member, the Plastiki charted a death-defying course to draw attention to one of the planet's great "plastic gyres," swirling accumulations of immortal synthetic debris.
