Uhm. Yeah. We're not sure exactly what this is even used for. Maybe if you need to make enough margaritas to feed an entire army, literally, and in under 2.5 seconds, then what you need my friend is this gas-powered-party-blender. The best thing they have to say about it is that it is "the sensible alternative to cutting ice with a chain-saw."

It has a "2-stroke, 43cc gas powered variable speed engine" so you can go from chop to puree to obliterate with just the flick of a switch. Did we mention it's gas-powered? Get one now before gas prices go back up again. Seriously. At $275 USD, don't worry there's free shipping, you'd better se...

Pet Fashion Week may be a bit of a misnomer for the two-day pet-lifestyle trade show that took place in New York City over the weekend, but don't tell that to the dogs who roamed the floors of the sprawling exhibition space dressed to maim, if not to kill, in rock 'n roll-themed hoodies, blinged-out collars, and hand-crocheted "pupooses."

And if cat lovers felt marginalized, well, who could blame 'em? The event, now into its third year, was all about man's best friend. Click below the fold for some of Pet Fashion Week 2008's eco-friendly highlights.

Green Fatigue and The Global Hothouse...Are We Hosed? A couple of weeks ago, one of the chief scientists at the U.K.'s Department for Environment Food and Affairs (DEFRA), Robert Watson, said that due to the uncertainty of containing carbon emissions, his country should prepare for a 4C (7F) rise in global temperatures this century. To which Guardian newspaper commentator and author Oliver Tickell responded that if the globe is going to heat up by 4 degrees Celsius, all we can prepare for is human extinction. ::Graham Hill

We all know how green Hollywood wants to appear. We also know how ungreen the entertainment economy can truly be. In the second portion of our conversation with News Corporation’s Director of Energy Initiatives, Rachel Webber grapples with this schizophrenia as she delves deeper into how Murdoch’s media empire plans to both calculate and neutralize its own global footprint. She also serves up some tasty details, like how it took shooting in a submarine for the producers of <a href="http://www.treehugger.co...

What other government in the world, for what other reason, would be able to "guarantee" the weather? One of the biggest feats of China's spectacular opening ceremony on Friday wasn't inside the stadium. As those of us inside the Bird's Nest feared rain -- and secretly, because of the heavy heat and humidity, prayed for it -- the city's meteorological bureau peppered approaching clouds with over 1000 silver-iodide rockets. That triggered intense showers outside the city and preempted a rainfall on China's parade.<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alex-past...

In a baffling shift of climate, Hell has frozen over. The flash freeze wasn’t precipitated by a crumbling ice shelf or rising sea—or maybe it was. Rupert Murdoch, the founder and CEO of News Corporation, has decided to render his global conglomerate carbon neutral, as well as educate the public and green up the many tendrils of his enormous news business. Murdoch’s media empire contains such brands as Fox Broadcasting, MySpace, and the Wall Street Journal.

I was not unhappy when the Sharper Image went bankrupt earlier this year; the store seemed entirely devoted to selling superfluous junk that was all connected to wall outlets. Its demise might have saved us a coal fired power plant or two, except Amazon has stepped in to take its place. Exhibit A:

Most people know how to park their car without putting it through the back of the garage; those who do not have lots of low tech options, including tennis balls on strings hanging from the ceiling or a rubber bumper on the floor.
