Valencia Design Week 2010: The Three Little Pigs, a Cardboard Fable (Photos)

Here's a fun installation by Spanish design studio Sanserif Creatius, called The Three Little Pigs. It is a fable about the value of the materials with which we design. Exposed in the middle of Habitat Valencia, as part of Valencia Design Week, the beautiful pieces of furniture represent classical objects from the 18th century til now, revamped in cardboard, a fully renewable and biodegradable material.

About a dozen objects, from a chest of drawers with a baroque mirror to a clock, and seats inspired by typography, designed by the Valencian designers Sanserif Creatius, prove that beautiful cardboard furniture is possible. Moreover, the exhibition wants to inspire other exhibitors of the fair to make eye-catching stands that leave no trace. LED lighting and eco-friendly additional material (all the leaflets are printed on recycled paper with vegetable inks) stand as examples. Everything of the Three Little Pigs show is being reused at other events, resulting in zero waste, a big contrast to most trade fair stands.

For the opening, dancers dressed in black with details of cardboard, performed on top of the furniture to show its strength, and encouraged visitors to try out this type of home furniture for themselves.
