Twisted Solar Roof Dominates Visitor Centre by Sarah Wigglesworth

We're big fans of Sarah Wigglesworth, the English architect who mixes green design with high style. Dezeen shows the James Leal Centre in Redbridge, London. Its defining feature is the monitor roof, which has solar thermal collectors on the south pitch, and monitor windows on the steeper north pitches.

The defining feature is the roof, which is aligned along the central axis of a nearby historic garden; the building itself is aligned to an existing cherry tree lined park entrance route. Other green features include an earth tube for cooling, a biomass boiler, and a vegetable garden servicing the cafe.
