It's that time of year when, after days of lounging and eating and eating and lounging, we are struggling to get up from our oh so comfy sofas and get moving. 2011 is almost upon us - say goodbye to 2010, it's time to get motivated for a new year of doing. Need some help with revving yourself up? The first step is to turn off the TV and then check out these beautifully designed calls to action from those energetic folk at The Do Lectures.
So what are your new year resolutions?
Here are two beautifully designed mantras that are just the thing to help us leap into the New Year with energy and enthusiasm. Stick one on your wall and see what Big Hairy Audacious Goals you can achieve this year.
Art Pays For *Free (APF*F)
As big fans of The Do Lectures here at TreeHugger we're pleased to say that these posters are part of a series called Art Pays For *Free (APF*F) - all the proceeds go towards helping The Do Lectures do what they do best - inspiring people to take action to make this world a better place.
This means that everyone in the world can watch The Do Lectures online for *Free. So we get to hear incredible stories of activism, adventure, conservation and compassion, like this emotional story from Maggie Doyne who ditched her place at university in the States to set up and run an orphanage in Nepal.
Anna Felton from Do tells us about the idea behind Art Pays for *Free:
"The sales from the these posters help fund The Do Lectures. Over the year we will have 10 artists will be producing posters for the project, they will all be signed limited editions. Only 150 printed of each. At the 2011 Lectures there will be an exhibition. We have Andy Smith and Anthony Burrill right now. Next up is the great Geoff McFetridge, and then Alex Heslop young up and coming illustrator."
The Local Printing Press
In keeping with The Do Lectures' strong sense of acting locally and thinking globally these posters are printed locally in Wales using a traditional woodblock press on A1, 100% recycled, colorset 'Solar' paper. You can buy the posters from The Do Lectures online shop.
Got a New Year's resolution of your own? You can add your resolution for 2011 to the growing list that will be published on the Do Lectures site on New Year's Day.
