Off To GreenBuild To Hear Al Gore, Find Green Gizmos and Goodies
Buildclean is a Breath of Fresh Air

Nobody cares about air quality and health in America, only about the price of gas.
Let me correct that- Ashli Ayer does. Alone and forlorn in her booth at the Greenbuild show, this lawyer turned crusader is trying to identify healthy, safe and environmentally friendly choices in building products.
GreenBuild: Project Frog

There are certain basics everyone wants in a green building, starting with energy efficiency and non-toxic materials. Construction processes that limit the building's impact on the environment. A building that simply makes us feel better when we're inside, with its abundant daylighting, good acoustics and superior air quality. Sounds simple enough, right?
GreenBuild: Richard Moe Has a Tough Row to Hoe

I really felt sorry for Richard Moe, and a bit angry, too. Here he is, the keynote speaker for Thursday morning, with a hall that can seat thousands, and there are maybe two hundred people. Downstairs they are crowding in to other seminars on how to build green buildings, not realizing that up in the ballroom the President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation is talking about what is by far biggest green market for architects in the country- fixing what we have.
Air Canada to Intermodal Cyclists: Drop Dead

Then comes the big question: Will Air Canada charge me for my Strida in a bag, like they did when I went to Greenbuild last year? Although I lost in my challenge at the Canadian Transportation Commission, it has been getting some exposure in the press, including an article in the National Post by Vanessa Farquharson titled Policy should be re-examined
Mr. Alter had hoped that Air Canada would follow the lead of other airlines such as Jet-Blue, which has just rewritten its policy on bikes to accommodate the folding variety."VIA Rail has adapted to this, transit buses have adapted," he says, "and the company says it isn't discriminatory, but it is. You can send your skis, snowboards and strollers on to a plane at no charge -- even a hockey bag that weighs a ton and is oversized. Not a folding bike, though."
As for Air Canada's plans to revise its policy, a company spokesperson said: "There is no plan at the moment to do so. However, we do watch trends and developments in the industry quite closely."
