Deployable/Transformable Structures by Daniel Piker are Mindblowing

Deployable/Transformable Structures from Daniel Piker on Vimeo.

Lightweight, easy to deploy structures have so many uses, from emergency housing to recreation. Daniel Piker is an architecture student in London showing remarkable work on his website Space Symmetry Structure, and this video just blew me away.

There are some visualizations of real building ideas as well, but most of the site is filled with some of the trippiest things I have seen since light shows in the seventies.

There are over sixty of them on vimeo.

I will be bookmarking this site; for those times when I am depressed about how we will get out of this mess we are in, I will remind myself that there is such extraordinary talent and creativity out there.
