Students Design Transformer Vegan Shoes that Transition from Hot to Cold Weather (Photos)

Olsenhaus founder Elizabeth Olsen is the queen bee of vegan footwear. Not only does she have a slew of celebrity followers, including Moby, Russell Simmons, Summer Rayne Oakes, and Ally Sheedy, but she is making significant strides in bridging the gap between vegan and green footwear.

In collaboration with the Pratt Institute, Olsen challenged students to design a multifunctional shoe that could transition from hot to cold weather and/or from comfort to high fashion using vegan and recycled materials. Last night, Olsen announced the winning design at a high-profile event in New York City. View photos, below.

Olsenhaus will produce the winning shoe design, with the winning individual to receive a portion of the royalties and a portion of the proceeds to benefit Farm Sanctuary in Watson Glen, New York and Orland, California. Other notable designs are pictured, below.
