Hit the Trails Running in Timberland's Green Running Shoes

While Terra Plana's VivoBarefoots are on one end of the low-impact running shoe spectrum, for those of us not ready to forgo the conventional sneaker, there is the "Mountain Athletic Route Racer", Timberland's new high performance outdoor running shoe with outsoles made with Green Rubber™, a compound containing at least 42% recycled tires. And that's not all for green attributes, these kicks feature uppers made with 70% recycled PET; lining made with 50% recycled PET; and 100% recycled PET oval laces. More:

From Timberland (in runner speak) via the press release:

Designed for single track and fells running, the Route Racer is built on the TPU external Stability Control Frame, specially tuned for uneven surfaces, with a low profile midsole to enhance stability and balance. The lugs on the outsole are deep and widely spaced to release mud quickly in off-road conditions.
