Functional Before Fashionable Tee-Shirts

Actually, they are fashionable and functional. Found at London Design Week, they were created by a lecturer and designer from a Manchester university. This series of tee-shirts explores how clothing can be useful and evocative as well as making a fashion statement. Made of 100% organic cotton, the designers show wry northern humour and an intellectual twist in their creations. The jar opener tee-shirt (pictured) acknowledges that common household problem of trying to get an extra grip on a stubborn jar. The obvious answer is using our shirt--recognising this, a tee-shirt design was born. Another has a good-looking graphic of an umbrella and raindrops--a nod to local weather conditions. And the Plug is a diagram for wiring a plug. It acknowledges the graphic quality of the information, plus you never know when it will come in handy. :: Umbrella
