Amour Vert, a TreeHugger favorite for organic clothes made in the U.S.A., recently opened the doors of its first brick-and-mortar shop in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley.

Founded by husband-wife team Christoph Frehsee and Linda Balti, Amour Vert makes classic clothing with eco-friendly materials. All of the clothing is produced in San Francisco in a facility that works to minimize waste by cutting multiple styles of garments from the same sheet of fabric. For every tee-shirt sold, Amour Vert plants a tree with the help of American Forests.

Amour Vert means "Green Love" in French and Balti describes the brand’s aesthetic as “Paris-chic-meets-California-cool.” Balti said that the store offers Amour Vert the opportunity to continue to promote the message that eco-conscious clothing can still be beautiful.

The physical space continues to show Amour Vert’s commitment to sustainability, with a locally-sourced interior by Zonal Home Interiors and Propeller.

The shop is located at 437 Hayes Street. Amour Vert garments are also available at a number of boutiques around the country and online.
