Spring/Summer Fashion 2009: Mountains of the Moon
Photo credit: Mountains of the MoonMountains of the Moon's Melissa Baswell crafts timeless pieces that are classic rather than trendy, comfy without being crunchy, and at price points that won't have you scrambling to hawk vital organs for a wide-leg pant.
This season saw the launch of a secondary formal-wear line, dubbed "Eco-Luxury." Although the collection is pricier than Baswell's usual selections, the sweatshop-free hemp/tencel pieces remain standouts for their unassuming elegance, dreamy palette, and unabashed femininity. Some of our favorites: The Coco Dress, with its romantic full-circle skirt and contrasting sash; the vintage-inspired, gathered Lily Blouse, punctuated by recycled buttons; and the thigh-skimming Annie Dress, which makes us long to pull on our go-go boots, hop on a Vespa, and scoot off into the sunset.
