"Oil and Water Don't Mix" T-Shirt Aids BP Oil Spill Cleanup

It almost goes without saying that the green fashion trend du jour is the commemorative anti-BP oil spill t-shirt; From clever slogans like "We're bringing oil to American shores" to a "BP Cares" t-shirt (with oil stains), there are plenty of options to wear activism on your sleeve.

And while we recognize that the greenest t-shirt is the one you already own--a friend of mine made an old Goodwill BP t-shirt anew by drawing a red "x" through the logo--here is one by O'Neill and Surfrider Foundation that benefits the nonprofit's "Not The Answer" offshore drilling campaign, which aids cleanup efforts in the Gulf Coast and efforts to reinstate the federal moratorium on new offshore drilling. As Mike notes in his post, we're not fans of people making money off the oil spill tragedy--like some anti-BP oil spill t-shirts out there--this fashion statement is not one of them. According to the press release, O'Neill team rider, Jordy Smith, said:

From growing up in South Africa and travelling on the Tour, I've been given the opportunity to surf some of the nicest beaches around the world. So when I see what's happening in the Gulf Coast, it's a sad reminder how badly offshore oil drilling can damage our oceans and marine life. Hopefully this t-shirt will help bring more awareness to the issue and keep oil companies away from the waters we love.

The limited edition t-shirt went on sale yesterday and is available for $20 USD at O'Neill and Killer Dana.
