Hot on the heels of its limited-edition organic cotton collection for Yann Arthus-Bertrand's Home, one of luxury fashion's old guard is dipping its toes even further—if ever so gingerly—into the sustainable style pool. On Monday, Yves Saint Laurent will be unveiling "New Vintage," an eco-friendly capsule collection comprising remnant fabric from past collections that has been adapted to the French fashion house's classic silhouettes.
To be sold exclusively at Barneys New York—one of eco-fashion's staunchest supporters, thanks to the influence of fashion director Julie Gilhart—"New Vintage" will present the perfect wardrobe by way of YSL, with dip-dyed bustier dresses, embroidered trench coats, a litany of separates in plasticized cotton, along with a Downtown bag and sandal—all strictly limited edition, numbered, and unique.
