Monacca Bag by Takumi Shimamura

We saw this rather delightful little number on Gizmodo and wondered: would it suit the sensibility as well as the style of a TreeHugger? Well, according to the distributor of the Japanese cedar bag, it is indeed environmentally friendly. Lined with canvas on the inside, it’s designed to fit a 17" PowerBook too. The bags......are handmade, since the sewing machine apparently didn’t cope very well with cedar, oddly enough. The pockets stitched into the bag look like they’d take CDs, so your discs won’t go flying all over the place. Bland backpacks have met their match. ¥23,900 ($230) ::arenot [by KK]
