Katherine Hamnett, the original eco-warrior fashionista, has designed a capsule beachwear collection with Yoox just in time to make a big splash this summer, and with the state of the world's oceans in turmoil it is as timely as ever. According to Ecouterre via Kaight NYC, the men's and women's 14-piece collection called "Save the Sea" is comprised of slogan tees; handmade tote bags; one-piece swimsuits and bikinis; beach cover ups, towels, and more; and is made with recycled polyester and organic cotton. As a supporter of the Environmental Justice Foundation's (EJF) Pirate Fishing Campaign, Katherine Hamnett encourages people to get vocal on ocean conservation issues, according to Yoox. She speaks to her inspiration for the collection, below.

I called this collection Save the Sea, as the sea we all love is dying. It's important as consumers and people with the power to vote to be aware of the facts so we can do whatever is possible to save it.

More on the collection at Yoox; More coverage by our friends at Kaight NYC and Ecouterre.
