Cattier's Facial Scrub and Exfoliating Shower Gel Slough, Soothe

The quickest way to achieve that elusive glow? Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. And If at first you don't succeed, scrub, scrub again. You won't have to slough your skin raw, however, with Cattier's White Clay Facial Scrub ($14). The erstwhile French organic babycare company's grownup offering, available exclusively at Beautorium.com, makes visage revival a sure thing, with beads of white clay to excavate pores of impurities, EcoCert-certified organic ingredients (aloe, jojoba, lavender, peppermint) to purify and condition, as well as a splash of lactic acid to whisk away dead skin. Infused with an inoffensively neutral—to the point of being nondescript—perfume, the scrub has a tiny-dollop-goes-a-long-way, grainy consistency that felt, almost opulently, like a deep-tissue massage for your mug. If we were to extend that analogy, then its body-scouring sibling, Cattier's Exfoliating Shower Gel ($24), would have to be a mini spa vacation—albeit a runny one—with bamboo powder and jojoba pearls to polish and energize while imbuing your epidermis with silky hydration.
But here's the "but" clause: Although free of parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, or synthetic colors or fragrances, the scrub and exfoliating gel do contain magnesium aluminum silicate, which despite its natural mineral origin, has been red-flagged for potential human neurotoxicity. Most of its deleterious effects appear dependent on particle size and the risk of airborne inhalation, however, neither of which seem likely in this case, but purists might want to reconsider.
