While based in bustling New York City, Fleabags is all about slow fashion. Since their launch in spring 2009--with a limited edition run of 100 Original Flea bags--the small handbag company introduces a new bag each season, while maintaining limited-edition runs. Fleabags are made locally in New York, with organic and vintage materials, and vegetable-tanned American and Italian leathers; all silkscreens use water-based inks. Available at Fleabags, $440.

2. Collina Strada

Each bag is handmade in New York with eco-conscious materials; available at Need Supply, $420.
