1. Green Sustainable Housing Gets Real
This has been the decade where green housing has finally gone mainstream; where all kinds of companies and architects have got involved and gone from drawing to prototype to production. Steve Glenn started Living Homes to build houses that any TreeHugger could love-green roof, FSC certifed lumber, radiant floors, solar power, not to mention great design. It was the first house to get LEED Platinum.
But it is the luxe model for the early adopter, on its own lot, and beyond the reach of most of the population.
