That road runner isn't the only piece of art whose materials came from a city dump. David King was a participant in the San Francisco Dump's Artist in Residency program. During the period of October 1, 2008 to January 31, 2009, it was his, and fellow artist in residence Christine Lee's job to sort through the junked materials brought in daily and create something beautiful. King found himself creating 3-Dimensional orbs, satellites and viruses. This piece, titled Virus #1, is made of curlers, leveling string, and wire connectors over a beach ball. You just never know the potential tossed items can hold.
