Warning Signs uses items found out of doors to study and demonstrate "the disappearing Native American heritage." When the pictures were originally taken, "there was a general lack of interest in solving urban problems that were rampant in all five boroughs," and "I addressed problems...It was my small attempt to place pressure on property owners who allowed squalor to accumulate, turning the city into a wasteland." Some pieces lasted only a few others, others, like abandoned toxic waste sites, lasted years.
