Team 7, which I came across on my third day in Milan, is a stickler for details. The Riletto bed by Kai Stania is made of sustainable lacquer-free European hardwoods and, like all of Team 7's beds, it doesn't contain a drop of metal--"to avoid Electromagneticfields (EMFs). While we are not sure if the EMFs floating out from the nails and metal plates in your bed will really fry you while you are sleeping, this firm is taking innovative green steps in the right direction. We are curious to see what they turn up with their experimentation with biodegradable polymers, a substitute for plastic components. Are those plastic parts in furniture destined to disappear for good?
