Photo: Flock of phalaropes is an impressionistic wonder

Sometimes a blurry photo looks like a blurry photo, but when used with intention and control, blur and motion can bring exuberant life to a image. Case in point, this stunning shot by Rollie Rodriguez of a flock of Wilsons phalaropes at Mono Lake, California. The full frame and blur make it feel like an impressionistic painting, but it's also so full of energy you can practically hear the swooshing of wings. Just beautiful! (You can also view it in full resolution on flickr, it's worth it.)
