Barker is passionately interested in highlighting the impact of plastic and rubbish accumulating in the world's oceans. The series Penalty is designed to create awareness about the problem of marine plastic pollution, using the football as the single plastic object to represent the wider issue.

There were 43 different makes of footballs; the most popular being Adidas, Sondico and Bellco.
