The ocean can be both inviting and intimidating. Capturing it's dynamic personality expressed in waves is an interesting challenge.
Carter states, "Being in the ocean is physically challenging and I enjoy testing my skill and athleticism against the forces of nature. I am intrigued by the hunt and the score associated with surfing and wave photography and find that timing is everything. Water, light and energy collide in the form of a wave in one moment and then it is gone! That moment is never perfectly duplicated again. Somehow being a part of that energy refreshes and invigorates me. It has been a lifelong obsession."
