About 2,000 Brent geese and 8,000 Barnacle geese make their home on Germany's Wadden Sea in April, according to Wild Wonders of Europe photographer László Novák. The pale-bellied Brent geese make the longest migration of any geese, increasing their body weight by up to 40 percent before hopping off on the longest leg between Greenland and Arctic Canadian islands. Threatened due to loss of its primary food source in the 1950's, the Brent geese have made a comeback due to programs to restore eel grass.
