Pretty much everything about Versailles is rich, gorgeous, and extravagant, and the lush gardens are no exception.

The decorative 250-acre project began at the request of Louis XIV in 1661 and took more than four decades to finish. The flowers, shrubs, gardens, sculptures, and fountains are some of the most famous in the world, and the King also installed an Orangerie, a grove of more than 1,000 orange trees.
