Our photo contributor writes that this juvenile wood stork is testing his wings. Wood storks (Mycteria americana) are found in South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. A small number of these birds are found in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Earlier this year, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service classified this bird as a threatened species.
