Doug Kallman took this photo in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. He writes:

"It shows the result of a forest fire in 2012 that was started by a tourist burning toilet paper. Natural lightning caused wildfires are not part of this ecosystem as there are no thunderstorms in Patagonia. These Southern Beech (Lenga) forests recover slowly due to the short growing season and thin soil."
