A red fox dashes across a mudflat at sunset in Katmai National Park. Foxes have well developed senses of sight, hearing and smell, and most people agree they're pretty darn smart. They're also confident critters. Where they're used to humans and human activity, they're quite bold in approaching people and getting into trouble (as anyone with a chicken coop knows). This one spent quite awhile outfoxing a gaggle of photographers, literally running circles around them and probably getting a good laugh out of watching them scramble to keep up.
You can see more wildlife from Katmai including grizzly bears, bald eagles, and seals in this slideshow on Discovery.com.
