Digging up the Eggs

But even before she started back towards the breaking waves, the guides were digging the eggs up, placing them in a bucket to bring back to the hatchery.

Frankly, I felt a bit sorry for her, and wished there was a way to communicate that her eggs were going to a safer place.

However, her eyes were glassy and moist, and as if in a trance she just continued splaying sand around where she had laid the eggs -- even after we dug them up.
