"During a trip in the Donana I came across this Iberian Lynx with a sad look," writes the photographer who captured this shot.

Lynxes have plenty to be sad about: They are extremely endangered, with an estimated population of fewer than 100 of them left in the wild.

They live only in the Iberian Peninsula, and their numbers are so small that the population has dropped as much as 1.5 percent in one day.
