Here, along Greenland's coast, glaciers surround islands in Baffin Bay.

In spite of their mass, these glaciers are in danger. In the summer of 2010, a single glacier in Greenland lost more than a mile of ice overnight, and the forces that made this possible are at work across the ice mass.
